SOME WILL SAY IT'S INDUSTRY, DRAWING TOO MUCH WATER. OTHERS WILL SAY, THAT'S THE FOLKS IN JACKSONVILLE TAKING ON TOO MUCH WATER. IT'S ALL OF US. IF YOU ARE A HUMAN BEING, SHOWERING, YOU ARE DRAWING FROM THE AQUIFER EVERY DAY. FOR THE PERSONS COMING FTO FLORIDA IN TE LAST SEVERAL YEARS YOU ARE DRAWING OUT THAT WATER. AND THEY HAVE COMPLETED THE BLACK CREEK WATER RESTORATION RESOURCE PROJECT. THAT'S GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THE WATER ISSUE AND THAT IS $120 MILLION INVESTED. WE EXPECT OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS THAT THE LEVELS IN KEYSTONE HEIGHTS WILL BE COMING UP. THE LAKE GENEVA RESTORATION IS ABOUT RESTORING THE LAKE BED. AS THAT WATER WAS NATURALLY DRAWING DOWN IN THE LAKE BED OF GENEVA LAKE.
SO WHAT THIS PROJECT, WHICH ACTUALLY STARTED THE COMMISSION APPROVED THE FIRST PORTION OF THE CONTRACT ABOUT AN A MONTH AGO AND TREES COMING OUT NOW. THIS FUND IS REQUESTING TO GET THESE FIVE FOREST AREAS IN THE LAKE BED AND THE FIRST CONTRACT IS ADDRESSING THE FIRST THREE, THE ADDITIONAL FUNDS WILL ALLOW THE PURCHASING DEPARTMENT AND THE COUNTY TO GET AT THE LAST TWO AREAS. WE HAVE MULTIPLE LEVELS OF SUPPORT AND FUNDING COMING IN FROM THE STATE AND THE COUNTY. THE CITY HAS INVESTED $62,000 ALONE IN THE LAST YEAR 1/2.
